Does it seem like just yesterday that our sweet bundles of joy were born and now we are lighting the candle on their very first birthday cake…or maybe the many candles on their 15th, 16th, or 20th birthday cake. Seems like time seriously flies by, especially in regards to our little ones growing up. I can’t believe how quickly they grow and today Emily from The Benson Street is sharing a super fun Birthday Photo Banner of her little cutie’s first year of life with super sweet monthly photos hanging on a fun and bright ribbon banner. This project is so cute and perfect for capturing and remembering your little one’s first year! Enjoy!
Hello, it’s Emily from The Benson Street!!! I am so excited to be with you today and share my baby’s first birthday photo banner. I’m not going to lie I’ve taken thousands of pictures of her cute face throughout her first year. Some of my favorites are ones that I took on her month birthdays in the same place and outfit. I have been doing this in preparation for her party. I knew I wanted to string these photos up from month 1 to 11 to show off how much she has changed. It was so simple but everyone loved it!
To make the birthday photo banner you will need:
- Craft and Wrap Birthday Bash Ribbon Kit from The Ribbon Retreat
- photos
- scissors
- hot glue
I used the pink ribbon and glued it in a loop and then to the back of the picture so that it could slide onto the banner easily.
Repeat that process with each of the photos. String the photos on in order after the glue has dried.
I used the birthday cakes for the main banner ribbon. I tied a knot at the end and then strung the photos on and then tied another knot on the end. Mine was about 4 to 5 feet long. Length will depend on how many photos are included.
Next, between each photo I tied a strip of purple ribbon, polka dot ribbon and then the tulle. Just tie in simple knots and slide the ribbons to adjust.
Repeat the same pattern between each photo. Add more ribbons if you like between photos.
Hang and enjoy. I hung this on the crib for some cute birthday photos and then again on the gift table at her first birthday party.
Everyone had so much fun seeing how she grew. Plus, gave the kids something to look at while they were waiting for presents and cake!
I think she even liked it!

This cute banner is perfect for little babes, but it would be so much fun to do for each kiddo too on their birthdays. Simply capture the big events in their lives during the year and display those and other photos capturing the fun things they did during the year and to celebrate them on their special day! This banner is adorable and such a great way to say Happy Birthday to those we love!
