Barcelona Skirt – Done!

During our giveaway on Facebook last week, someone commented how funny it was that I hadn’t finished the Amy Butler Barcelona Skirt. She said she had the same pattern cut out, half-sewn, underneath a bunch of stuff in her craft room, just like me! 😀

The main reason my progress had stopped was that I didn’t know what a zipper foot was. After a few weeks of asking other people and my grandma and finally getting my mom’s instruction manual for her sewing machine, I sewed my first zipper!! I have worked and worked at getting this skirt done. No other project was going to come in my way, although they certainly tried!

Here is my first skirt ever!

I can’t wait until I’ve washed it a few times to get the ragged edges really popping.

I chose the Green Peonies in the Pop Garden line by Heather Bailey fabric. It’s so cute! I love it.

I ran into a few problems with terms in the pattern. I lost part of the pattern that had the glossary, so make sure not to lose that! I know that I attached the lining to the skirt incorrectly; I’m still not sure how that happened, but if I had to mess up on anything, I’m glad it was the lining. I kept the skirt longer since fall is around the corner and with a little boy, longer skirts are just easier.

If you have this pattern and haven’t finished it yet, you now have no excuses! It fits perfectly, and I am so glad I got it done. If you don’t have the pattern, you need to get it. I am impressed by how easy it was for my first skirt and it looks really nice. We will be offering this pattern for a discount soon, so keep your eye out here to snag it.

Now I am working on some cute hair accessories to go with the dress. I will post them soon! All that’s left is deciding what shoes to wear with it. 🙂
