Bow #1

Today I took this:

Bow #1 - {The Ribbon Retreat Blog}

and made this!:

Bow #1 - {The Ribbon Retreat Blog}

Okay, I know it’s not that fantastic, but you gotta give me a break! It’s only my 3rd bow! (1st unsupervised, really.) I think it turned out okay. I wouldn’t necessarily sell it, or even give it away, but hopefully it will work with a project I’m working on (more on that later!)

When it comes to bows, I have absolutely no creativity. I don’t have a little girl with cute clothes to match ribbon to. Luckily, The Ribbon Retreat has super cute ribbon mixes that I can get and all the ribbons will match! The one I used for my bow was Wild One.

So how did it go? Well have you head of a DAB of glue? It’s a very common saying.

Well, my hot glue gun has never heard of it. Weird, huh? All he knows is A DANG LOT of glue. It’s silly really. I don’t think I can make another bow with this creature. Not only that, it doesn’t work when it’s plugged into the stand. Only the glue gun. It leave messes everywhere! Honestly, I think this bow could’ve turned out cuter if I had a better glue gun. I promise it wasn’t just me. 😉

It was really fairly easy to make following the TOTT videos. I think I just need to make a few more to graduate to the “fancier” bows. Next time, I am going to make a huge one.

If you love to make bows and have some pictures online, leave a note in the comments. I’d love to see them!

WHAT I LEARNED:

1. A good glue gun is absolutely necessary!!

2. Next time use a thimble. My poor thumb!

3. Have fun! Bows are so cute no matter what you do!

    What a great start! TOTTs was the first instructions I ever used. I don’t make the big fancy bows at all anymore since my daughter doesn’t really care for them. But I love to make ribbon sculptures along with bows. I have a lot of them in my Etsy store, not sure if I can provide links, but it is http://punkynmunky.com, if you’d like to take a peek!

      Hi Wendy! Your ribbon sculptures are amazing! I love them! That’s an awesome way to keep working with ribbon when the big bows aren’t working for your daughter any more. 🙂 – Shirley
