DIY Duct Tape and Clothespin Wreath

Hello and Happy Holidays! It’s Barbara from Chase the Star, and as always, I’m thrilled to be here. Today I have the most fun and ridiculously easy DIY wreath to adorn any part of your home, indoors or out this holiday season.

While traditional wreaths are beautiful, sometimes it can be more fun to get a little creative this time of year, don’t you think? I thought I’d make a wreath that had more of a modern flair this season, so I went to the Ribbon Retreat and found Duck tape (duct tape), clothespins, and super thick ribbon. Suddenly it all came together!

Make this simple wreath in no time with the right materials, a little time and some imagination!

Materials:

12″ Embroidery hoop

2 packs of clothespins (24 each)

Red Duck Tape

Chrome Metallic Duck Tape

3″ Grosgrain Ribbon (I chose Duck Egg Blue)

Glue gun and glue stick

Step 1:
Add a piece of Duck tape to each clothespin. I went with 24 in chrome, and 24 in red. Wrap the embroidery hoop in the metallic Duck tape.

Step 2:
Glue the clothespins to the embroidery hoop. I opted for a pattern of 4 red, 4 chrome. Make sure to leave a gap at the top for your ribbon!

Step 3:
Add the ribbon to the top. You can get creative and make a bow or just let the wreath ‘hang’ from the ribbon like I did.

Talk about simple! This wreath can easily be hung inside your home, or for the season, outside. If you’re in an area where there is heavy moisture I suggest sealing the exposed areas of the wood clothespins with a light coat of polyurethane to keep water damage away.
