Fall Giveaway

Fall Giveaway - The Ribbon Retreat Blog

With Fall in the air, leaves changing color, pumpkins in the store, and apple cider calling my name…I thought there would be no better way to celebrate my FAVORITE time of year than with a great big Fall Giveaway! YAY!!!

Who is with me? Do you also love Fall? I want to hear all about what part of Fall is your FAVORITE!!!! And, in the process…you may just win a most FABulous prize. I would also love to hear about your Fall family traditions. I am always looking for new traditions to start with my cute little family. You see…my husband and I have only been married for 11 years, and we would LOVE to start our own traditions that our two cute boys and adorable little sister will remember forever. We do the typical carving “scary” pumpkins after which they sit on our front steps for weeks and weeks with cute little lights illuminating inside of them. Being the mom (and the only girl for quite some time) I always attempt to make mine super cutsie…which typically ends rather poorly. We even make a stop at a local pumpkin patch to let our little fellas pick out their very own pumpkins, that will soon be the canvas for the “scariest” jack-o-laterns in the block. Which, for a mom, happens to be the cutest thing ever to observe, my two little guys becoming artists and creating such frightful faces.
SSSSHHHH…don’t tell them I said their pumpkins were cute! 🙂

Our little family also loves to get in the truck (with a fountain soda in hand, of course) and drivvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve! We love to immerse ourselves in the middle of the gorgeous landscape, in which we live, with the beautiful leaves changing colors and the nearby mountain tops being brushed with white crisp snow. I love the smell of apple and pumpkin fragrances all around making tummies growl for yummy fall treats, and my heart happy as I know the Holidays are just around the corner! Ohhhhh, how I love Fall!

But…enough about me, what do you love about Fall?

So, who is ready to enter our giveaway. Today, we are going to be giving away a gorgeous Fall inspired Moda Jelly Roll, Posh Pumpkins…a perfect choice for this time of year….AND…a $40.00 gift certificate, just in time purchase all your supplies for your Holiday projects. Whoop, Whoop! I think I want to enter this giveaway! Good Luck everyone!

We want to thank you all VERY VERY much for being the most amazing readers ever! Everyone at The Ribbon Retreat appreciate you so much and wish you could all win this amazing prize! Our giveaway will close Thursday night at midnight so don’t forget to check back to see who the lucky winner is.

Well, today was one of my favourite fall activities — we made soup, hot cocoa, snuggled, and are watching Parker. The soup was terrible [neither of us can cook well; we worked hard, did our best, and had fun though!],and the movie is good so far.

I love making Halloween costumes for my daughters. They get to come up with the idea and we spend the month of October working on it. Last year we had a robot and elephant, and this year we are making a cupcake, sunmaid raisins girl and a baby bat. When I was little we always made our own costumes from whatever was laying around the house and it’s nice to continue that tradition with my daughters. Why buy it when you can make it yourself!!

The first thing I love about Fall is our annual family trip to the local apple orchard. For a number of years it has been just my busband and myself and each year I miss having my boys with us, but they’ve all grown up and no longer live with us, or are very close to home now. But, a year ago one of my twins moved home temporarily along with his family which includes one of our granddaughters. Last year our family trip to the local orchard included his family although at that time our granddaughter was only about 9 months old. I am VERY much looking forward to this years’ trip to the orchard because our granddaughter is now 22 months old and is very much going to love the orchard trip. She gets super excited about everything now at her age. I can’t wait to take her in a few weeks.

After the orchard trip we take yearly, my next favorite thing to do each Fall is baking. I love Fall baking with the apples and other goodies which have cinnamon in them. The cinnamon makes the entire house just smell like Fall.

What we love most about fall is snuggling up with a blanket, drinking a hot chocolate and cheering on our local high school football team. Last year we started taking our 2 year old and she loved. It. She loves the noise, excitement and loves to cheer for the football team and the cheerleaders! Everything about it has her so intrigued! Our youngest is 4 mon old and we are excited to see if she will love it as much as her sister. It is also amazing to see how much the weather changes from the beginning of the season to the end!

During the day the weather is still warm but not hot like summer so we can go for walks and the kids can get outside and play more. Then there is the festivals! My hometown has a chili cookoff every year and here even the public gets a chance to sample all the chili. Nothing like the smells of chili and funnel cake, crisp wind and colored leaves to let you know fall has arrived. Definitely my most favorite time of year!!

My favorite thing to do in the fall is cuddle up with a soft blanket and a book outside on the back porch. It’s just warm enough to be comfy, but just cool enough to need the blanket to keep my toes warm. I LOVE it!!

I love the weather and use it as an excuse to get my girls outside as often as possible. We go to the park more, take more walks and play in the leaves as much as possible. We also like to find short hikes (2-4 miles) at local parks and nearby state parks to get our girls (2 and 3 1/2) out into the woods.

I live in AZ so I don’t get to really experience a true Fall. Fall has always been my favorite time if year! I love everything about it from the beautiful colors and crisp air to the costumes and candy!! But my favorite thing is being able to slow down our crazy schedules and be together. I am always reminiscent if my childhood this time of year as it takes me back to a time when my father was still alive and my mother was healthy. We would pick out pumpkins and round up hay and add some fodder and a scarecrow to adorn our front yard! Gardening season was over and we once again were able to relax…together! Oh how I cherish those childhood memories which is why we try so hard to make those same memories with our four kids! We always carve our pumpkins to spell out our last name and light them up! Of course we always get a pic with the entire family behind those pumpkins!! It’s great to see how we have all changed and how new little ones have been added!! Happy Fall Ya’ll!!!

I’ve always loved fall, since it’s my birthday month, but love the change in the weather, cool, crisps mornings, piling leaves and watching the kids & dogs play in them. But now that I’m a Grammy to 5 precious little ones my favorite part is going to the pumpkin patch, gathering pumpkins, but only the perfect pumpkin each child picks, having a picnic, oh I could go on and on. Oh yes, the crunching of leaves under your feet.

Oh goodness there’s just so much to love! Our family moved to Texas a few years ago so fall means we can finally spend some time outdoors without my little ones wilting in the heat. They ask year round when is the pumpkin patch coming back and our churches fall festival! For myself I love that it signs the beginning of the holiday seasons, time for fall & thanksgiving decor in my home. Time for transitioning my closet to fall colors and layered pieces, for dressing my little boys in plaids and jeans. Time for cooking those home cooked meals (soups, Chilis, & stews) that I hope my children will remember fondly when they have families of their own. We love fall!

We don’t have the same kind of fall with changing colors, etc. here in the middle of Arizona that many of you get to experience. But I still love pulling out all my fall decor that I collected when our children were growing up, and I always buy a couple of fresh pumpkins to decorate my dining room with. I would love to have pumpkins on my front porch but the javelina who come thru my yard love them, so after the season, I put the ones I purchased out there for them to enjoy. They like orange ones over white ones:)
I also love to bake pumpkin bread and apple spice cake, and find a new author to enjoy while curled up in a quilt that my late mother in law made me years ago.

I have 3 wonderful children that definitely make every holiday fun! We were a military family until recently. We enjoy all of the traditional fall activities like apple orchards and pumpkin patches in whatever state we are that year. The best part of fall for our family is HIKING. It is the best time of the year (temperature) for us to find a new place/state park to explore! We spent many fall hikes in Washington state, Arizona, Colorado, and now Texas! I get the best family photos from our fall hikes! We are the kind of family that can spend a whole day walking, rock searching, stream wading (very cold!!), animal spying and “walking stick” finding! Fall is the best time of the year to explore nature!

Fall has always been my favorite time of year, from the weather to football. It started back in high school since I was in color guard it was when my friends hung out the most. To this day it remains my favorite because it seems to be when family gets together the most. Summer is always crammed full with things to do around the house, vacations, etc. that we don’t slow down to just appreciate being together. Fall seems to be when families gather, aunts, uncles, grands, parents, etc. Just to celebrate and appreciate what we have. So while i enjoy the weather, my favorite fall thing to do is just to appreciate my loved ones and spend time, nothing planned, just hanging out, catching up and sharing each other.

This is my favorite time of year…The smells, colors, and the beginning of the holiday season. Light a cozy candle, some caramel corn, and hot apple cider or hot cocoa. My daughter has already added popcorn Sundays to the calender until January. This is the time of year where most of our best family memories are made. Happy Fall!!!!

I love to see all the children trick or treating, I use to dress up for the holiday and also have audio sounds as they came to the porch inside a scarecrow. I also love making crafts for the holiday. I just made pumpkins out of dryer vent hoses and added some nice bows to them.

I love love love fall. Overcast skies, crisp air, and harvest time what could be better. We love to get the bikes out and the kids and visit our local park that is almost 200 acres of beauty with paved bike trails that run through the wooded area. It is just gorgeous with the leaves changing on the trees and the breeze on your face. Then we like to head over to the orchard and luckily for us is right down the road from our home. I love the location of our home! Once the orchard opens we visit often. We love taking the kids to pick out produce, pumpkins, and apples and enjoying the pleasant atmosphere and sweet environment together. We of course can not leave there without getting the warm fresh brewed apple cider and the kids getting the orchards all famous apple cider slushy. We also love visiting my mother and fathers farm where my mother is always canning something yummy from their garden produce. And the kids favorite is happening as I type. Grammy’s canning her homemade applesauce from apples from Pa’s abundant apple tree. That were picked by my very own two sweeties. Can you tell I love and indulge myself in fall?

Fall is my most favorite season! I can’t wait to pull out my Fall decor, make new decor too, have something delish cooking in the crock pot all day, baking lots of yummy stuff and filling my home with tasty and warm smells, watching the trees turn those gorgeous Fall colors, and finally, taking the trip with my family to the pumpkin patch and orchards. The trip this year will be even more exciting, because I’m a brand new grandma (MeMaw) to a beautiful baby boy! I just adore my grandson! 🙂
