This Folded Grosgrain Flower is a fun way to change things up! Using solid grosgrain ribbon, printed, dots, stripes, and more, you can make such a fun variety of flowers. I especially love this flower for holidays and summer! Check out how easy they are!
~ SUPPLIES ~
7/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon
Gem or Button for the center
Felt Circle
Alligator Clip
Iron
Scissors
Lighter
Hot Glue Gun
Cut out 14 pieces of ribbon. Cut them to 3″ long. (if you’re running low on ribbon, you could probably get away with 2-3″). Make sure to seal your ends with the lighter or your preferred method.
Fold each ribbon piece in half and hold it closed with an alligator clip. Then take an iron and press the ribbon. This will give us a nice crisp fold!
This part is a little tricky. Just practice until you get the hang of it. The most important part is getting the ribbon glued on the exact same way for each additional ribbon. See how I angled the ribbon and where I put the corner of the ribbon on top of the other ribbon? Try to follow that closely with the first ribbons and the additional ribbon after that.
Here is a closer view of how to angle the ribbon on top of each other.
Once I had a few pieces left, I cut this excess ribbon off and sealed the end. This allows for the additional ribbon to be able to go under the first ribbon. I did it when I had 10 ribbons glued together.
Put the rest of the ribbons onto the flower using the same method.
Take the last ribbon and slide it under the first ribbon.
Glue the first piece and last piece together.
It will feel kind of like an accordion; you’ll be able to move things around a little bit. This picture is just showing you how you can move it around… not what you want to end at. 🙂 So just move it around a little and get it where you like it.
Now all we have to do is add our felt circle and gem! I am using a pearlie for my center. They have a flat back and are so easy to add to flowers. You can add an alligator clip during this part as well or after. 🙂
Super easy and super fun! I hope you enjoyed this Folded Grosgrain Flower tutorial!

Thank you Shirley! What a fun flower! I love those tight creases in that ribbon and that dainty pearl in the center. What a great project for Spring and Summer! I would love making a whole bunch of these to add to headbands or to use to embellish my favorite bag! I love quick projects that are easy on a girl’s budget and also one that can help me with my ribbon scrap mess of a pile!
