How To Make A Button Headband

How To Make A Button Headband - {The Ribbon Retreat Blog}Using the new buttons from The Ribbon Retreat, I made this one of a kind button headband. The price on these buttons is unreal by the way! I am so excited about them and I will be doing a few more posts on fun things to do with them. I love wearing something unique and being able to say I made it.  The best part about this is how easy it was to make!

The first thing I did was measure from ear to ear, which was 12 in. for me. I chose to make my headband 2 in. wide. I cut a piece of felt to 12×2 with the OLFA 45mm Ergonomic Rotary. It is very easy to use and cuts so precise. I love it!  I love the look of  a wider headband but a skinny one would be cute too. Then I cut 3/8 ribbon into 4 pieces. I made them 17 in. long so I could tie it in a bow, you can make them longer or shorter. Then I sealed the edges. ( I used a lighter)

I pinned and sewed the ribbon onto my piece of felt.

Now to the fun part! Sewing on the buttons! I used black upholstery thread, but regular would probably work fine. I doubled up my thread and tied it in a knot. Then started sewing on my buttons. I only went through the holes once.  You will need to re-thread a few times.

I saved all the buttons with the looped back, and after I got to the end of the felt I went back and sewed these buttons in the blank spots.

I felt very stylish all day while I was wearing this! If you make one send pictures! I would love to see what you create!
