Creepy, crawly spiders seem to be invading our every thoughts, the stores, our homes and today, they are even invading our hair…..eeeeekkkkkk! But, this spider is a little different from the rest in the fact that she might be creepy and crawly but ohhhhhhh, is she cute! This is one spider you or your little gal won’t mind being stuck in your hair. Help me welcome Kaeleen back with this adorable ribbon sculpture that is way fun and so very festive. Enjoy!
Hey Ribbon Retreat friends!
Are you ready for the perfect Halloween hair accessory? Well look no further because today I am happy to share with you the Itsy Bitsy Spider Ribbon Sculpture.
You will need:
7/8 inch black grosgrain ribbon
1 pack korker ribbon – swiss dots or solid
1/4 inch orange grosgrain ribbon
needle and thread
hot glue
google eyes
Cut 3-4½ inch pieces of black 7/8 inch ribbon. Cut and heat seal the ends.
Place them on top of each other, and then fold them in half.
Thread your needle and knot the end. Put your needle in the middle of the folded ribbon. But DO NOT push the needle all the way through.
Open up and separate your pieces.
Pull your needle through and wrap it around tight to the back.
Continue wrapping your thread tight around the center. Knot you thread to secure the bow.
Cut your korker ribbon into 4 inch pieces.
Thread your needle and knot the end. Put the needle through the center of your korker pieces one at a time, don’t push the needle all the way through until all your pieces are on.
Pull the needle through your korkers. Then wrap your thread tight to the back – then continue wrapping your thread tight around. Knot your thread to secure the bow.
Take a piece of the black 7/8 inch ribbon and roll it for the spider face – use hot glue to secure it.
Cut a 4 inch piece of the 1/4 inch orange ribbon. And fold it like the pictures below.
Take the long tale and pinch it and bring it up like pictured above to make a mini bow. Thread your needle and go through the 3 layers. Then wrap the thread tightly around the bow. And trim and heat seal the ends.
Time to assemble your spider! Glue the korker on top of the spike bow. Glue the black round piece on top of the korker. Then add the google eyes and bow. Put it on a clip or headband and you’re ready to rock this Itsy Bitsy Spider!
Thank you Kaeleen! Now this is one spider that doesn’t make me want to jump a few feet high and run the other way squealing. I love your Itsy Bitsy Spider and can’t wait to make one or two. This is also another great hair accessory that can quickly be turned into a fun embellishment for a festive top, scarf or your favorite fall jacket. Instead of gluing your cute spider to a clip, simply glue it to a Brooch Pin found on our Hardware page. It doesn’t matter how you were this cute spider, you will love it and so will all that see her!

Aww, what a sweet spider! I think she’d even look adorable perched on top of a mantel, or an indoor decorative pumpkin! Thanks for the cute idea, Kaeleen! x0x0
