Joy Letters and Yarn Tree - The Ribbon Retreat Blog
Hello Ribbon Retreat fans – it’s Mel and Steff from Find it, Make it, Love it. We are thrilled to share this Christmas project using some beautiful supplies from The Ribbon Retreat! Now that it’s officially December, Christmas decorating is a full GO! Hooray! We love to decorate with handmade items and this is a super simple project to add some real charm to your Christmas set up.

Here’s what you need:

White Chiffon Grass Gold Metallic Gold and Silver Buttons
Sparkle, Shimmer and Shine Button

To start, paint the letters white.

Next, mark and cut the chiffon grass to fit each letter.

Then use hot glue to attach the chiffon pieces to the letters.

Done! Now let’s do the pretty tree. Use some fluffy white yarn and simply wrap the styrofoam cone with it. Use a bit of hot glue at the top and bottom.

Now for the jewel star – start by painting a wood dowel cap white. Choose the buttons you would like to use on the ‘star.’

Because these are buttons, they have a button loop on the back. Use a good pair of scissors and cut it off (it’s plastic.) Now the buttons will be flat against the wood ball surface.

Then just hot glue the buttons to the wood dowel cap.

For the trunk of the tree, we used a piece of a TP tube. The tree just needed a little something on the bottom. We simply wrapped the tube with the pretty gold ribbon and hot glued it to the bottom of the tree.

Last, hot glue the jewel covered wood ball to the top of the tree. A beautiful vintage looking star!

To finish the letters off, add a piece of ribbon and put it out for display!

Super cute! I’m wondering how much frayed ribbon she used to complete this project?
