Looped Ribbon Pumpkin Art

Out of all of the holidays of the year, Halloween is one of my favorite to craft for! I am not sure why, seems how I am a little scared of Halloween and all of the spooky activities, costumes and decorations it brings out. But, still I love to make fun hair bows and cutesy home decor for Halloween! As long as it’s more cutesy that scary, I am ok with it and today, Christine from I Dig Pinterest is sharing a very cutesy, fun and festive, and beyond easy decoration fitting for not only Halloween but for the entire Fall season as well. Enjoy learning how to create this adorable Pumpkin Art with gorgeous and vibrant green and orange looped ribbon!

Hello Ribbon Retreat readers! It’s Christine again from I Dig Pinterest here to share a fun way to make pumpkin art with looped ribbon!

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I just love creating festive decor for my home! One can never have too many Halloween decorations is my motto. Oddly enough, my hubby doesn’t agree. 🙂

We recently moved into a new home with more storage than our old place had, so I’m taking that as a sign that I need to add more orange, black and white decor to my collection. 🙂
I love that this handmade pumpkin art is super simple and adds a fun pop of color to my mantel! Crafty or not crafty, it’s a no brainer to put together.

Here’s how it’s done:

Moonstitch Orange Polka Dot 1 1/2″
Orange Chevron 1 1/2″
Saddle Stitch Orange 3/8″
Jumbo Orange Ric Rac
Orange and White Stripe 3/8″
Emerald Stripe 1 1/2″
Hot Glue Gun
A Piece of Heavy White Cardstock

Pumpkin Button

Begin by cutting your heavy cardstock to fit the size of your frame. Mine was 8″x10″. With a pencil, lightly freehand the shape of a pumpkin. You can see where I made a mistake, but the ribbon will cover that up, as long as it’s inside the pumpkin.

Next, cut plenty of 3″ strips of ribbon in each of the ribbon designs. How many will depend on the size of your pumpkin.

Make a loop with the ribbon and hot glue it together where the ends meet. Repeat for all your ribbon pieces.

Starting at the top of your pumpkin and working down, hot glue the ribbon loops closely together, alternating the designs. Angle the edge pieces so the finished pumpkin will have curved sides.

When finished with the orange ribbon, cut a piece of green and white striped ribbon and hot glue the ends together so it’s not completely circular and looks like a stem. Glue it to the top of the pumpkin on the cardstock.

Now add your finished art to a frame, stand back and admire! Hang it on a wall or place it on the mantel to bring a bit of fall into your home!

I just love how it turned out, and if you know me, you know that I can’t get enough of polka dots! So fun!
