Patriotic Two Color Twisted Bows

I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am about today’s post.

Let me explain why…

I never had much interest in bows approximately 2 years ago. I had two little boys, and they weren’t really that into wearing them. Haha! They were more the baseball cap type…well actually, one of my little boys preferred to wear his baseball helmet everywhere. It was absolutely adorable, but he got a few interesting looks. He didn’t care; he loved that helmet and even tried sleeping in it a couple of times. I loved his confidence and his ability to not care what anyone else thought, so the helmet accompanied us on many trips to the mall, adventure parks, walks and even a couple of trips to the swimming pool. So as you can see, I am pretty sure unless a niece or neighbor friend left theirs at our house, a pretty and frilly bow never made an appearance in our home. That is of course, until my husband and I found out that our third child was a girl. At that point, we immediately started receiving cute and frilly bows from family and friends. Which were such great gifts by the way!

With all that being said, my excitement for this post comes from my brand new self proclaimed title of Professional Beginner Bow Maker. LOL! I love to craft, and I love to sew but I have always been pretty intimidated by those pretty little bows. So…I decided I needed to face this fear and learn how to make some bows! My favorite bow has always been the Two Color Twisted Bow. I love the contrasting colors and designs you get with this super fun bow, so I turned to our AWESOME YouTube video tutorial to learn how to make these adorable bows. I am pretty proud of these little cuties and my new hobby!

Let’s make some! All you need is a couple pieces of your favorite ribbon, a Ribbon Retreat Hair Bow Maker, clip, needle and thread and a lighter.

With the 4th of July right around the color, I chose to use festive red, white and blue ribbon, but you can use any color or design combination you would like.

You can learn how to make these fun bows with our awesome video tutorial HERE!

I followed the video exactly to create my patriotic bows, and I included photos below of each step I took to make them.

Here we go….this bow is actually super easy and super quick to make. Good Luck!

All done! This bow is even super cute from the back!

Let’s try one more bow but with different patriotic ribbons. On this bow, I used some of my favorite ribbon…the Star Cut Out in Navy and accented the stars in a solid red grosgrain. And, who doesn’t love a little chevron action to add some depth and dimension?

To make this bow, I used the same video tutorial and again followed it exactly.
(However, I didn’t provide as many pictures with this second bow.)

Taaaa-Daaa! The back and front view!

Aren’t these bows so fun? I was so excited when they turned out just like they were supposed to. How did yours go?

Have you joined my Professional Beginner Bow Maker club or are you currently serving as the President because you are a true bow professional? Whatever your bow maker status is, I hope you had as much fun as I did creating these fun bows. They are truly easy and if you are a beginner, like me, it is a great bow to start learning on. However, if you are a pro, this can also serve as a great bow for you to practice different color and design combinations on. The possible looks you can achieve with this Two Color Twisted Bow are endless!

What two ribbons would you like to see combined to make a bow like this?
