Hey there Ribbon Retreat friends, Today I am happy to show you how to make this fun Patriotic Wind Sock! It’s perfect for any inside or outside 4th of July festivities.

You will need:
-A variety of red, white and blue ribbon. The more variety (texture, print, width) the better.
-Scissors
-Embroidery Hoop (I used a 7 inch)

Patriotic Ribbon and Trim
I started off by spray painting my embroidery hoop because the drab color it came in was not fab enough for my liking. 🙂 I chose red!

Once it is dry or while it is drying cut your ribbons into 18 inches (or however long you would like). My hoop is a 7 inch hoop, and I thought 18 inches looked like a good length.

When your paint is dry and your ribbons are ready, it’s time to start the assembly!

Unscrew the screw so there is a gap between the inner and outer hoops.

Space your pieces of ribbon in between the hoops. Make sure you place them so the “pretty” side will be facing out.

Continue around the hoop.

As you get close to getting the whole circle filled you will want to tighten the screw, the ribbons tend to slip around.

Once the screw is tight some may be a little crooked, so I used a seam ripper (just something small to pry in between the hoops) to open it up enough to move the ribbon around.

I used fishing wire to hang it…four pieces evenly around then tied together with a loop.
Once it’s to your liking it is time to hang it and enjoy it!
