Are snowflakes falling all around making you just a weeeee bit chilly? Here, in our neck of the woods they have fallen and placed a blanket of beautiful white all over the place. I LOVE it! Although it is mighty chilly, winter is a beautiful time of year and snowflakes are some of my favorite things! So rightfully so, today’s project is all about those pretty flakes that are gorgeous to look at and all are one of a kind.
With Christmas over and gone and all of the holiday decorations put away for another year, our home is looking a little bare…much bigger, but still a little bare. Don’t you love how when you take down the Christmas tree and other holiday decor your home all of a sudden triples in size? Because of this, our home looks a little sad without all of the holiday cheer bouncing off of walls and tables. So…I wanted to add a little something special to my everyday decor with a cute winter decoration that is easy to make and so much fun to display all winter long.
The supplies you’ll need to make your own super cute Snowflake Decoration are:
Satin Ribbon
(I wanted a Wintery color so went with Robin’s Egg Blue)
Pearls
One Tile
*Card Stock or something heavier weight you can set up on your table or place in a frame without the glass will also work.
Hot Glue
With just a few simple steps, you can have a stunning snowflake too. I love how mine turned out and can’t wait for you to make one as well! Let’s get started!
Choose what will be your foundation for your decoration. I used an old tile, but you can use an old picture/canvas from a Thrift Store, a piece of card board or whatever you have lying around.
Cut several pieces of your ribbon, long enough to cover the front of your foundation and wrap around to the back.
Cover your foundation with the ribbon strips you cut. Add a dab of hot glue to one end of your ribbon and place on back of foundation. Hold in place until ribbon is secure.
Wrap ribbon around the front and hot glue other end to the back of your foundation.
Continue until entire front of your foundation is covered.
Now for the fun! Decide what you want your snowflake to look like and softly draw your snowflake design on the ribbon. This will give you an idea of where to place your pearls.
When you are satisfied with your snowflake, begin hot gluing your pearls onto your ribbon. Careful, that glue is hot!
Continue gluing your pearls and have fun watching your snowflake take shape.
Waaaa-Laaa! You are all done and have a gorgeous snowflake decoration to add to your home.
Easy and fast projects are my favorite, because they only require a couple of supplies and a short part of your day and in the end, they look amazing!

Fast and easy crafts are my choice too! That is very pretty and I could do that. I might even have the supplies already – that is amazing in itself. 🙂 I wonder how it would turn out with other beads instead of pearls. I do like your white pearls on the blue satin ribbon. Best wishes!
Hi Jendi! Thank you so much! I had so much fun making this fun decoration and hope you have the chance to make one too. I bet it would look so awesome with other beads as well. I love that idea! Have a wonderful day and thank you again Jendi! Michelle 🙂

Hi Ana Love Craft! Thank you so so much! I love pearls too and had so much fun working with them on this project. Have a wonderful day and thank you again! Michelle 🙂
You are so right, Michelle, about how sad it looks once all the Christmas decorations are put away (which is why ours are still up – hehe!). I *love* this project; the ribbon as a base for the snowflake adds a lot of textural interest that fabric wouldn’t provide–although fabric would certainly work in a pinch. Thank you for sharing your lovely idea! xoxo
Hi Pat! Thank you so so much! I love that your Christmas decor is still up. I miss mine! I am so glad you love this fun project. Have a wonderful day and thank you again Pat! You are the best! Michelle 🙂
You’re always so sweet to me about my demented comments, Michelle… thank you.<3 I just noticed that the TRR pearls don't have any holes, which will make this project ten times easier than if they had them. One can plop the pearls down on the glue any which way and not have to worry about the holes lining up front to back and out of sight. (Okay, maybe nobody but OCD me would worry about that, but the fewer things I have to worry about when I actually summon up the courage to try a craft project, the better!) xoxo
I love it. It is simply and perfect for a cold winter day.
