Hey there Ribbon Retreat friends!
Tis the season for Turkeys! Today I am going to show you how to make this fun little turkey.
You will need:
3/8 inch brown satin ribbon – for body
1 orange marabou puff
orange and yellow tulle
a variety of sizes and prints of “turkey color” ribbons (red, orange, yellow, brown)
orange felt circles
hot glue gun
Lets start with the body by cutting 3- 2¼ inch pieces and 2- 1½ inch pieces of brown satin ribbon.
Fold and glue the 3 larger pieces in half and make the smaller two into circles.
Glue the 3 larger ones together and trim off the top corners. This is your turkey body!
Glue the 2 smaller circles on the top half of the body, to make the head.
Cut a beak and gobbler out of extra scraps of ribbon and add google eyes! Now you’ve got a turkey body!
For his feathers you will want to start by cutting your marabou puff in half and cut 3-4 inch pieces of tulle, fold it in half then in thirds and place a dab of glue at the bottom to keep them together. Cut a variety of lengths of your ribbon and heat seal the ends.
For the assembly, you will want to use the marabou as your base. Attach a few tulle pieces on the back.
Glue some of your taller ribbon pieces on top of the tulle.
Add a felt circle on top of the ribbon.
Flip it over and glue some more tulle and shorter ribbon to the front…get creative! Use both sides of the ribbon and layer them!
Take another felt circle and fold/glue it over the bottom half.
Now you are going to glue your little turkey body on the front!
Now go show off your turkey! Put him on a covered hair clip or headband and don’t forget to have a
Happy Thanksgiving!
