Hello, hello! It’s day 3 of our Blogger Competition and today’s competitor is bringing yet another incredible project to this super fun and friendly competition. The crazy talented and so super nice Becky from UCreate is pulling out all the stops and sharing a super fun and very creative Spring Banner made with a gorgeous burlap and ribbon combo and embellished with stunning flowers. This banner is easy yet eye catching and one you are going to love adding to your Spring decor! Enjoy!!!
Hey Friends, it’s Becky from U Create! I am so excited to be apart of The Ribbon Retreat Blogger Challenge. I get to compete with some really talented ladies (and friends). So here’s how it works: We each got the exact same products to create something great with and then YOU vote for your favorite after all 4 of us reveal our creation. Sounds like a blast right? I am really excited to see what everyone creates! For my challenge I decided to make a Spring Banner for my fireplace mantle.
Supplies included:
Beautiful 3″ wide burlap ribbon
Glittery pink ribbon
Packet of assorted yellow ribbon
3 super gorgeous spring flowers
Additional supplies:
glue gun
safety pins
twine
clear command hooks
Step #1: Sew the pink glittery ribbon to the middle of the burlap ribbon.
I stitched the pink ribbon in place every twelve inches. That way I still got the loose draped looked of the pink ribbon.
Step #2: Cinch 3 spots on the banner.
I measured the banner and cinched it at 18″, 36″, and 54″ from the edge. I pinched it together with my fingers and then secured it with a piece of twine.
Step #3: Glue safety pins to the flowers.
Put a dab of hot glue on the on the back of the flower. Open the safety pin and place the back of the pin in the glue. Cut a small piece of ribbon and place it over the glue and the pin. This will secure the pin better and save your fingers from that HOT glue.
Step #4: Pin flowers to the cinched banner.
I pinned the flowers to the places I had cinched up on the banner. This makes it look super springy and soft. I LOVE THESE FLOWERS!
Step #5: Hang it on the Mantle
I tied twine to the ends of the burlap banner to create loops to hang on my mantle.
CRAFT TIP: Get clear command hooks to hang banners, stockings, etc from your mantle or shelves. They are easily removed and don’t damage the surface.
So, what do you think? I love how simple and easy this craft was, but how beautiful and springy it is too. Also, I think this banner could be a fun table runner. Place it in the middle of the dining table and you have an instant Spring Center Piece.
Thanks for letting me participate in The Ribbon Retreat Blogger Challenge.
