Hello again! It’s Beth from Free Stylin’! I love creating beautiful things for my home that don’t cost a lot of money. And today’s quick and easy Christmas decor idea is no exception. Let’s add a little glam to our holiday dining rooms this year by making a Sparkling Dining Chair Wreath!
Here’s what you need:
*A wreath (I bought six – one for each chair. They were half price at Joanne’s – about $2.50 each, plus I used a coupon code straight from my phone.)
*Velvet Ribbon (I chose the 1 1/2″ in Scarlet Red)
*Glue Gun and Sticks
*Large Paper Bag (Choose one big enough to fit the wreath in)
*Scissors
*Glitter (I used white to look like snow, but other colors would look fabulous!)
*Spray Adhesive
**FYI – I did the glitter steps outside to keep the fumes out of the house and glitter off my floors.**
Begin by shaking some glitter (not all!) into the bag. A little goes a long way! 😉 Then separate and arrange the branches of the wreath until you’re happy with the look. Spray the front and back of the wreath with adhesive.
Place the wreath in the bag of glitter and shake, shake, shake! You may need to turn the wreath a few times in the bag to get the glitter in all the right places. Shake off the excess and then let the wreath dry.
*Tip: I dried my wreaths on a cookie sheet that has an edge around it. When it was dry, I shook off as much extra glitter as possible. The edge keeps the glitter in the pan, and I was later able to put it back into the bag and use it on the next wreath.
While the wreath dries, measure how far down you want the ribbon to hang on the chair. My wreaths hang 24 inches, so I measured and cut 6 different times at 24 inches.
Next, measure and cut 6 different times (or however many wreaths you are making) at 8 inches to make the bow. Tie the bow in a knot in the middle, and cut the ends into points. Hot glue the bow to one end of the ribbon.
Thread the ribbon around your dining room chair, and hot glue the ends together at the top.
So pretty, right?! I love how easy this little project is, and how much sparkle it gives my dining room!
The velvet ribbon is my favorite. It’s so soft and elegant, and I absolutely love red – especially at Christmas.
Here is our Christmas dining room this year:
My only expense was the wreaths. I kept costs down by using other Christmas decor I already had. Our $3 Pottery Barn Inspired Lantern is filled with ornaments. It sits on FREE pine boughs from the home improvement store. (Yes, they give out free cuttings from the trees! They have huge piles of them…go take a look at your local store!) I used battery operated candles, but, if you don’t have them, regular candles will do. Just be careful of the tree branches! 🙂 The table is set with our everyday dishes with an extra ornament just for fun. I added a cozy blanket to soften the look (and the chair! Sometimes we sit at the table after a meal, talking forever – the blanket comes in handy!).
The great thing about the velvet ribbon is that it comes in a ton of different colors to match your decor! And this super cute wreath doesn’t have to just go on the chair – you can put one on the front door, make a few to hang on the kitchen cabinets, or maybe display one over a mirror.
