Super Hero Capes

Hello Ribbon Retreat Readers!  My name is Adrienne and I blog over at Free Time Frolics. I have a passion for creating and sharing. Most of all I love to sew!  I am so excited to be sharing this amazing project with you today to celebrate Boys!
Super Hero Capes - The Ribbon Retreat Blog

A few months ago I received the new Riley Blake Designs Catalog.  I saw these capes and knew I needed one for my little guy.  I was so excited when RBD told me they would send me out a few to try and share with you.
RBD will be releasing these beautiful panels later this month. They come in 3 colors. See them below.
{Even the girls can play along}.

This is one of the coordinating fabrics. I think I need a project just for this fabric. Maybe a cute Neck Tie??? I love it!
Each panel comes with written instructions, a cape (one side), wristbands, waistband and mask. To complete the project you will need 3/4 yard coordinating fabric for back of cape, hook and loop tape, elastic (for mask) and a small amount of felt or batting for the accessories.

If your are new to sewing or want to start this is the perfect project to get started with! Just a few straight lines and a little zig zag stitching!

Be sure to get these before they are all gone. (Maybe you should sign up for the Ribbon Retreat newsletter???)
They will make perfect gifts for Birthday’s or Christmas.
Thanks Ribbon Retreat for having me today.  For more sewing tutorials, recipes and free printable’s check out my blog Free Time Frolics.  Anything I do in my Free Time you will find on my blog!

These are great! Love the colorful fabrics. I think little boys would have a great time wearing these and imagining to be superheroes.

I really feel like this post missed the mark when it came to the gendered comments (“even the girls can play along.”) Of course girls can play along. Why would anyone think that superhero capes are just for boys? I found it troubling in an otherwise useful blog post.

Hi Erin! Thank you for your comment. You are right…girls can most definitely be superheros too, and they will also LOVE these capes. This post was for our Oh Boy! series where we were celebrating boys…but like you said this post and all of the posts in this series are PERFECT for all the little girls in our lives as well. Thank you again and have a wonderful rest of your day!!! Michelle 🙂
