Super Simple Headbands

Hello, hello all of you fellow crafters out there! I am not sure about you, but it feels like forever since we have hung out and crafted together! My poor little family has been sick, sick, sick with the sniffles, fevers and lots and lots of coughs, so I have been MIA for about a week…so, so sorry! I sure love winter time but this past week, it sure hasn’t been my favorite, but with a light at the end of the healthy family tunnel, and Amy from Ameroonie Designs coming to the rescue with this adorable and super simple tutorial…my day is looking very bright and super exciting! I hope all of you out there, in craft land, are feeling happy and healthy and that this fun tutorial puts a gigantic smile on your face too! Enjoy!

Hi Friends! It’s Amy from Ameroonie Designs, and I’m here to share a simple headband tutorial that would be a great project to have on hand for those blah winter days where you just need something fast and easy to do.

They are so quick, you could make a bunch for Valentine’s Day gifts or just stock up to have as birthday gifts. And if you have a gentleman who needs a gift – turn it into a bookmark by leaving out the elastic!

Ready to make one? Let’s do it:
Supplies-

 Directions-

1.  Cut a 12″ section of Twill Ribbon.
2. Embellish as desired.  I cut shapes out of felt and stitched them down, I also just added simple embroidery.  You could also take out the sewing by hot gluing the felt shapes if you want.  Other ideas would be adding buttons or gems.

Now to finish the edges.
1. Fold over the end of the twill ribbon 1/4″ toward the WRONG side of the ribbon. Press.
2. Fold over the end of the ribbon another 1/4″ to hide the raw end. Press.
3. Cut a length of elastic.  For toddlers cut 6″, for older children 8″, for adults 10″.
*Note that these are approximate – if you want a more accurate measurement, measure the distance around the back of the wearer’s head from ear to ear.  Tuck the elastic under the pressed edge with the shiny or RIGHT side facing up. (The wrong side of the elastic should be against the wrong side of the ribbon.)

To finish the headband, fold the elastic away from the ribbon as shown.  Stitch down the end of the ribbon using two rows of stitching as indicated in the picture.  Make sure to back stitch when you start and stop.  Repeat for the other side, and you are done!  Easy, right?  If you want a totally no-sew version, use Fray Check or clear drying glue to seal the cut edge of the ribbon.  Once it’s dry use hot glue to attach the elastic to the ends.
Easy, peasy!
