Hello pretty bow! Oh how I love this elegant bow! This Triple Layer Satin Hair Bow is so easy to make, but has so much cuteness. Let’s get started!
~ SUPPLIES ~
1 1/2″ Double Face Satin Ribbon
Lined Clip
Pins
Needle and Thread
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors
Cut your ribbon into four pieces. Two at 11″, one at 10″, and another at 6″.
Take your 11″ piece and we’re going to bring the ends together, overlapping about 1/2″, basically making the shape for a bow tie bow.
Now turn over the ribbon so the ends are on the bottom.
Take that top part of the ribbon and turn it so one side goes up and one side goes down. Make sure to hold on to the ribbon ends, that are on the bottom, really tight.
Once you have it how you like it, stick a pin in it.
Push the loops in. You want the creases to be full, if it’s a crisp crease, then try again.
Do this with the other two ribbons, the 11″ and 10″.
Take your two bigger bows and we are going to start layering.
Put them together in sort of an X.
Layer the smaller bow on top of the other two bows. The ends of this bow should lay centered in between the loops of the other bows.
Stick your threaded needle through the back in the center. Then pull through and wrap the thread around the bow. Pull out the pins. Then tighten the thread, doing an accordion fold in the middle of the bow. When there is no more give, take a couple stitches in the back of the bow and cut your excess thread.
Now we just need to reshape the loops of the bow.
Much better, huh? If you are having trouble with it staying, just hot glue the loops in place.
To make our center, take your 6″ piece of ribbon and tie a little knot in the center. You can also use a smaller ribbon like 3/8″ or 5/8″ to cover the thread and then place on a cute gem. I love the knotted center for this bow though.
Let’s put on our clip and knotted center.
Place hot glue on the lined clip and place it in the back of the bow along the center.
Hot glue the knotted center onto the bow. Then wrap the tail around and hot glue it down to the clip. Cut the excess off and seal the ends with a lighter. Place hot glue on the clip again and bring the other tail around and once cool, cut and seal the end.
That finishes our super elegant, beautiful, Triple Layer Satin Hair Bow! I hope you love this bow as much as I do. If you love video tutorials, you can view how to make this bow HERE. Happy bow making!
