Is your home full of garlands galore? If yours is anything like mine the answer is a resounding and very exciting “Why, yes it is!” Garlands can add so much color and depth to your home decor and today Kaeleen is sharing an adorable and very festive Valentine Ribbon Garland just in time for all of your Valentine Day parties and fun! Enjoy!
I am excited to share this cute Valentine Ribbon Garland with you!

It is quite easy, all you need is:
1½ inch Ribbon – one color, two colors, three colors…your choice!
Scissors
Ruler
Hot glue gun
Ribbon Stiffener (Stiffen Stuff)

Start by cutting the ribbon into 9 inch pieces.

I used 3 colors and cut 8 of each color.
You can cut more or less depending on how long you would like your garland. Once all the pieces are cut it’s time to start assembling.
Take the first piece of ribbon and find the center by folding it in half – make a crease with your fingers.
Place a line of glue on the crease and fold it in half.

Take another piece and lay it flat in front of you, then place the one you just folded/glued on top of it.

Place a line of glue on the fold of the first piece then fold the second piece over on it.

Repeat on the other side so it looks like this.

Now place a line of glue on the edge of the bottom (second) piece and press it to the opposite edge of the same piece to make a heart shape! (see photo)

Take a third piece of ribbon and find the center (fold in half and make a crease). Put a line of glue on each side of the center crease, then quickly press the bottom of the previously made heart into the crease and press together.

Continue, alternating ribbon colors, to make the garland as long as you’d like.

When you have two ribbons left, it is time to finish off the garland. Glue the second to last ribbon onto the previous heart, like normal. Fold the final piece in half.

Attach the last piece of ribbon to the glued part of your final heart. Add glue to the other side and attach to make the final heart.

Now you have a matching beginning and end to make hanging easier!
Once the garland is at your desired length and have the end finished off, it is time to make the garland stiff.
Use your favorite fabric/ribbon stiffener. Apply a few coats and give it plenty of time to dry! I let mine sit overnight and it was perfect in the morning (after about 5-7 coats).

Happy Valentine’s Day and Happy Garland Making!
Thank you Kaeleen for sharing this fabulous Valentine’s Day craft. I am in love with those sweet hearts, and I love that with just a little hot glue those ribbon hearts come to life, floating right into our homes!!
Garlands are a great way to decorate for the holidays or to add to your everyday home decor. They are easy to make and can be awesome scrap buster projects too. They are so adorable made up in ribbon, fabric, paper or burlap…anything you choose to use will be perfect! But, I must warn you, be ready to fall in love with your garland the second you hang in on your wall or drape it on your entryway table! You can make them short or long, full or as unique as you desire. Here are a few more garland projects that are fun for parties, backdrops, or just because!

Are you in need of a scrap buster project? I love using up scraps in garlands, bows and so many more fun crafts. Make sure you stop by The Ribbon Retreat for all of your projects large or small, scrap buster or not! We have everything you need plus more!
