Hello all, Mary back again!! February is here, so guess what we’ve almost made it through winter…ahhhhhh! I’m so over the gloomy weather here, so my tutorial is cheery and as I told a friend pretty much a “kindergarten project.” My inner kid has came out on this one, it’s all about cute. So get your glue sticks, err I mean glue guns ready!!

Supplies you will need:
Cut Out Heart Ribbon
Twill or Double Ruffle Ribbon
Buttons
Canvas, I used a 8×10 size, you could go larger, pick a 2 pack up at Walmart for under $4
Blue Paint

Love is in the Air button

Let’s get started on this fun and easy home decor project.

Free hand your hot air balloon onto your canvas.

With your blue paint, paint your sky. I wanted mine uneven and more subtle, because the sky is never one solid blue and also we are just using it as a background where a lot more will be added to it. I gave it about half hour to dry and was ready for the next step!

I cut 4 strips of my heart cut out ribbon and heat sealed the ends. I spaced them out by eye and glued to the back of my canvas.

Cute right?!?

I placed 4 strips of 1/8 inch ribbon down for the “ropes” of the hot air balloon and a square of felt topped with a square of burlap for the basket. A little glitter heart resin for added cuteness.

Cover your balloon portion with pink felt as the buttons that we put down will have some show through places.

Cover your felt in an arrangement of pink buttons. I used the white chiffon “grass” and cut out cloud shapes, gluing the XOXO resins on top.

So here’s where I save you a few bucks and time, for the banner portion twill and double ruffle ribbon are great to write on with a sharpie. However, chevron twill is a no go. Due to the texture of the chevron twill it bleeds badly when you write. I pulled out some of my white double ruffle and it was perfect!

That’s it folks! Now you have a cute little piece to put out for Valentine’s Day or heck anywhere if it fits your style, you know my 5 year old cutesy style! I hope you have fun making your very own!!

Oh, how adorable, Mary! I love the chiffon grass clouds, which, of course, I never would have thought of – hehe! The airy, fluffy three-dimensional look of the clouds nicely complements the balloon. And the double ruffle ribbon is a sweet choice for the banner, because it coordinates with the “girly” look of the project. Hmm… wouldn’t this piece be perfect in a baby’s/toddler girl’s room, with the banner reading, “You’re going places, little one!”?

Thank you, Mary, for sharing this charming project! xoxo
