Watermelon Tulle Wreath

An absolute staple in any summer family gathering in my husband’s family is a great big watermelon. Yummmm! All of the kiddos absolutely love-ove-ove this popular summer fruit and that juicy melon usually doesn’t last longer than a couple of minutes. But don’t fret because with today’s adorable Watermelon project, there will definitely be enough melon to go around all summer long! Join Kaeleen as she shows us how to create this fun and fluffy tulle wreath inspired by none other than that juicy pink and green fruit! Enjoy!

Hey There Ribbon Retreat Friends!
What is summer without watermelon? And what is a door without a wreath? Today I have the perfect project to fill both needs! A Watermelon Wreath!

You will need:

Watermelon Tulle Wreath - The Ribbon Retreat Blog
-Wreath Form – I used a 12 inch
Tulle
For the Watermelon Rind, I used Kelly Green and Lime
For the Watermelon, I used American Beauty and Paris Pink
-Black Felt
-Scissors
-Ruler

Now let’s begin.

Start by cutting your Kelly Green and Lime tulle into about 16 inch long strips.

Tie the strips around the wreath form – alternating colors.

Continue alternating the greens until you are half way around the wreath.

Cut your pinks the same length that you cut the greens.

Start alternating the pinks around the other side of the wreath. I wanted my watermelon to be more dark than light pink so I actually did two American pinks then one Paris pink continued around.

When you get your pinks all the way around it is time to add watermelon seeds! Using black felt I just eyeballed the shapes of seeds. I like that they are not all the same size and shape, but that’s just me.

Glue them on!

Now all you need is something to hang it with! I used a piece of both pinks and tied it around the back to make a loop for hanging.
