Weaved Ribbon Table Runner

One of my favorite crafts to make for holidays and special occasions is adorable and festive table runners for my kitchen table. My goal is to have one for every month that I can top my table with and have a little holiday or seasonal cheer in my home. Today, Kathleen from Fearlessly Creative Mammas is sharing a really fun Table Runner that is all ribbon, weaved in and out of each other! This cute runner is easy and looks fabulous topping her festive table! Enjoy!

Hello there! Happy Spring! I am so excited that Spring is here. Even though we haven’t had a bad winter where I live, I just really hate the cold, so I’m especially excited about the possibilities of Spring. I love the blooming flowers and the green grass. It’s also a good time to do some cleaning in our homes and brighten up our accessories.

Today I’m sharing a Weaved Ribbon Table Runner, with all of the ribbon coming from The Ribbon Retreat. I made this one two feet long by one foot wide, so it can go on my coffee table. Here’s the thing though. I’m in the process of moving, so when I show you the finished product, it’s on my dining room table. Sorry about that. I hope you like this project.

Need Some Ribbon

I started out with seven rolls of ribbon, but decided I didn’t love one of them with the rest, so I didn’t end up using it. I really love that ribbon though, so I will have to find something fabulous to do with it. I really, really love the ribbon at The Ribbon Retreat. You should check it out.

The first thing I did was cut a piece of fabric 26 inches by 15 inches, ironed it and then I folded over the edges. I wanted some of the fabric to fold over the edge of the ribbon.

Then I cut 12 pieces of ribbon 24 inches long and laid them out to cover the fabric, butting the end of the ribbon up to the fold of the fabric.

Next, I cut pieces of ribbon 12 inches long. Then I weaved the shorter ribbon through the longer ribbon, following the pattern throughout the long ribbon and making sure I didn’t leave space between the ribbon.

I folded the fabric over the edge of the ribbon to cover the edges of the ribbon and then pinned the ribbon in place. I used a lot of pins to hold it all in place.

I weaved the ribbon all the way through, to cover the fabric completely. Doesn’t that look neat?

This is what the runner looked like before I sewed it together. See, lots and lots of pins.

This is what it looked like after I sewed it in place. Be sure to sew it right on the edge of the fabric, so that you are catching the ribbon to hold it in place.

This is the runner on my table with my Easter Advent Tree on it. I love the way it looks and it really brightens up my table. PS, if you want to see how I made the Advent tree, you can find it on my blog, Fearlessly Creative Mammas. I hope you will come over and visit.
