It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no…it’s the cutest little bat you’ve ever seen! Seriously, have you ever seen such an adorable bat? Cherie is sharing this festive winged friend on a fabulous ribbon covered headband that is too cute for words and way too much fun! This little high flyin’ critter is easy to make and in just minutes will be flying around your house landing on headbands, hair clips, bags, scarfs or tops accompanying you and your family to all of your Halloween festivities! Enjoy!
Want to learn how to make this cute little Bat Headband? It’s very easy! If you can glue a ribbon loop you can make this bat!
For this project you will need:
- 2 pieces of 1 1/2″ Black Ribbon cut to 7″– Bat wings
- 2 pieces of 1 1/2″ Purple Ribbon cut to 7″ (optional)
- Orange 3/8″ Ribbon cut to 2 1/2″ — Little Bow
- 3 pieces Black 3/8″ Ribbon cut to 3″– Bat Head
- 3 pieces Black 3/8″ Ribbon cut to 3 1/2″– Bat Body
- 30″ of 1 1/2″ Purple Ribbon — Headband
- Headband
- Googly eyes
- Hot glue
- Needle and thread
Cut and seal your 7″ ribbon pieces. This will make a 3 1/2″ bow. You can cut your ribbon to 6″ if you want a 3″ bow.
Layer the ribbons and glue them into a loop.
Press the loop flat and pinch the sides together.
Do the same to your other loop and put them together.
Wrap the bow with wire to secure.
Make your 3″ and 3 1/2″ ribbons into loops for the bats head and body.
Slip the bow through your bigger loop (body) and glue in place. Glue the smaller loop on top of the bigger loop and add a bow and googly eyes.
If you want, you can glue the bat to a headband. I used a 1″ headband and covered it with 1 1/2″ purple ribbon. Glue the end of the ribbon to the inside of the headband and then fold it over and continue to glue the ribbon to the outside of the headband.
After you have glued the outside fold the ribbon over and glue the rest to the inside. Make sure the edges of the ribbon are glued together so there are no gaps.
Glue the bat to the headband and admire your good work!
Thank you so much Cherie! I am in love with this little bat! I can’t believe how easy they are to make and how much fun it will be to wear on Halloween!
