Easy Snowflake Bows

I love winter. I love the snow, sledding, sitting on my couch watching snowflakes fall from the sky while reading a good book and cuddling up under a nice warm blanket…I love it all. However, if only we could figure out a way for the snow to stay off of the roads. Whether you are with me in winter bliss or spending your winter days on the beautiful beaches, today’s fun project with Debra from Housewife Eclectic, is all about lovely snowflakes that no matter where you spend your winter, you will love these cute bows that are fun to make and even more fun to wear. Enjoy!

Easy Snowflake Bows - The Ribbon Retreat Blog
Hi everyone, I’m Debra from Housewife Eclectic, I typically share recipes, DIY, geeky projects and much more over at my site. Today I am here to show you how to make these fun and easy Snowflake bows. They come together really quick and are perfect for the snowy weather that has finally hit my neck of the woods.

You will need:

White Grosgrain Petals and Pearls
Snowflake Button

Measure your ribbon out into five 8 inch lengths. Fray Check or heat seal the ends of all of your ribbons to prevent fraying.

Lay the ribbon on top of each other and then fold the strands in half. Pierce the ribbon at the halfway mark with your threaded needle. Pull the ribbon halfway through the needle.

Leaving the ribbon on the needle, spread the ribbon out until it is even. Fold each piece up and pierce with the ribbon with the needle, creating loops. Continue until all of the loops have been made. Pull the thread through the ribbon and sew through the center of the bow 4 or 5 times until it is completely secure. Tie off the thread. Hot glue your gem to your center and then hot glue the bow to a covered alligator clip.

My daughter absolutely loves this bow and it goes with just about everything, which I love.

How are you dealing with the snow?

We all know what a Bow Loser I am, but I have actually made this style bow (using the TRR tutorial, of course)!! I just love it in the snow white ribbon, with that gorgeous center. It surely does conjure up thoughts of snow, which has somehow eluded southern NJ so far this season. Thank you for sharing your sweet idea, Debra! xoxo

This bow is so cute! My niece would love this! I’m not a very crafty person, I can’t even tie a regular bow – but I might have to give this one a go for her!

That is pretty. Maybe if I make some pretty bows my daughter will wear the clips in her hair. Why don’t little girls care that hair is hanging in their face? 🙂

Hi Jendi! Hehehehe! I wonder the same thing. My little sweetie has the cutest natural curly hair, and I love to put cute bows in it…but as soon as I put them in out they come! I hope your sweet daughter keeps this fun bow in her hair. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Hehe! Have a wonderful day! Michelle 🙂
