A princess wardrobe is never complete without a royal crown sitting proudly atop their precious little head? Today, Cherie is sharing a gorgeous Ribbon Crown that is perfect for your highness and for completing her royal wardrobe. This crown is embellished with lovely gems and pretty glittery ribbon. Create this fun royal accessory for your little princess and don’t forget to make one for all of her princess pals as well! Enjoy!
Do you ever have an idea pop into your head and you just want to run with it? That was me with this Ribbon Crown! If I had thought it out more in advance, I would have made sure I had gold ribbon to wrap around the headband instead of white so that the whole crown would be gold. The important thing is my daughter loves it and you can make it even better!
This simple Ribbon Crown will put the plastic dress up crowns to shame! I bought my daughter a dress-up crown recently for around $8.00 and it didn’t even last one day!
Supplies Needed:
- Plastic Headband
- Glitter Ribbon 1 1/2″ & 7/8″
- 3/4″ Ribbon to wrap around the headband
- Gems
- Hot Glue Gun
Start by cutting 1 1/2″ glitter ribbon to about 5″. I cut one side at a diagonal so the ends would meet up when I made it into a tight loop.
Glue the ends of the ribbon together after you loop the ribbon.
Glue the loop to the center of a 1/4″ ribbon wrapped headband.
I put glue on both sides of the headband for the ribbon to be extra secure.
Repeat the same process on both sides of the first ribbon loop with smaller 7/8″ ribbon and add some gems to finish it off.
When you put the headband on, you don’t put it from ear to ear, but at a slight angle on top of the head just like you would wear a tiara. My daughter played just fine without it ever slipping off.
This is such a fun accessory to have in a dress-up collection! It would also be a fun Birthday Girl Crown or maybe you could even have a crown for all the girls at a party! It’s just so fun to be able to make your own so that you can customize it to your little one’s favorite princess colors! The bonus is that it is only a fraction of the price of anything store bought!
Thank you Cherie! What a fun little crown. This fun accessory will be perfect for dress up, Halloween, or wearing around the house while dancing and prancing just like the princess your little gal is. This cute crown will add to her wardrobe now fit for her highness.
My little sweetie sure doesn’t love to wear bows or other hair accessories (for very long anyway)…however, she would LOVE this cute crown. She loves princesses and anything that has to do with them. What an absolutely adorable idea, Cherie! I love how customizable it is, with so many glitter ribbon colors and sizes to choose from at TRR. Depending on the age and size of the princess, you could even add two more loops on either side of the two outermost loops–made with 5/8-inch glitter ribbon in a matching or coordinating color!
Ooh! If you wanted to use glitter ribbon to wrap the headband, 5/8-inch glitter or frosted *elastic* might be worth considering, as well! (This coming from someone who has never wrapped a headband in any kind of ribbon, ever – hahaha!)
Thank you, Cherie, for the fun idea! xoxo
