One of my favorite holidays to decorate for is Valentine’s Day. I love all of the pink and reds that are flowing from the stores and the glittery hearts that are EVERYWHERE! The colors, the hearts, the glitter….all some of my favorites and all get me so excited for this fun holiday I LOVE to spend with my sweetheart!
To be totally honest, I have never created a Valentine’s Day craft that didn’t include sewing and so I am super excited to share this fun and REALLY easy project with you! This project is very similar to the Ribbon and Pearl Snowflake Decoration from a couple of weeks ago but even easier! Today’s project is all about the bling heart made from our fabulous Gem Sheets and gorgeous Satin Ribbon.
Let’s get started!
The only supplies you are going to need for this great project are:
Satin Ribbon (I used Red in 1 1/2″)
Gem Sheets (I cut my heart from a full sheet)
Tile, Card Stock, Cardboard…something to use as your foundation.
Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue
Are you ready to get started? This is so easy and so fun!
Just like our snowflake decoration…measure the length of ribbon strips you will need.
Cut as many as needed to cover your foundation.
Take one strip and cover the top of your foundation.
Place a dab of hot glue on one end of your first piece of ribbon. Be careful, the glue is hooooot!
Secure the ribbon to the back of your foundation, wrap ribbon across the front and hot glue the other end of ribbon to the opposite side of your foundation.
Continue gluing ribbon to the foundation until the entire front surface is covered in ribbon.
Wahooo…beautiful right?!?
Now, bring on the bling!
Trace a heart or any other shape on the back of your gem sheet.
Cut out figure.
Take the paper off the back of the gem sheet.
Place your heart/shape in the middle of your ribbon covered foundation. Be careful that you stick your shape in the right place the first time because once it is down, it is adhered.
And, you’re done! So easy and isn’t that gorgeous?
If you would like to add a little something extra like a bow embellishment, you can easily and quickly do so…I tied a basic bow and added a tiny piece of the gem sheet to the center to give it a little extra pizazz! I then hot glued the bow right to the gem sheet heart and ribbon.
Done and beeeeautiful! Now you have a super fun and festive Valentine’s Day ribbon decoration that is eye catching and looks like you just picked it up at your local crafty boutique!
Quick, easy and cheap projects are my favorite! I LOVE being creative but sometimes don’t have a lot of time to sit down and spend hours creating something fabulous. But with a project like this adorable heart decoration, you are done in no time and the finished product is absolutely stunning!
