Scrabble Tile Art Tutorial

Hello Ribbon Retreaters! My name is Barbara from Chase the Star and I am back to show you my fun new project, Scrabble Tile Art!

Scrabble Tile Art Tutorial - The Ribbon Retreat Blog

I had all of my materials ready to go when just before I was getting ready to work on this art piece, my husband bumped into the frames on my family gallery wall , and you guessed it–knocked one of them down.

The art piece below that says ‘family’ fell to the ground, and disassembled. Luckily the glass didn’t break, but once I had it in my hands I thought this frame would work perfectly for the Scrabble Tile Art!

Family Gallery Wall via Chasethestar.net #gallerywall #hallwayI wanted to make a personalized piece that will be meaningful for my family, and that we can reflect on later on when the kids are grown. If you want to give this project a shot, here’s how:

Make Your Own Scrabble Tile Art

Materials & Directions:

Frame

Alphabet {Scrabble} Tiles

Fabric

Painter’s Tape

Hot Glue Gun

You may recall the No-Sew Shower Curtain project where I used this black and white chevron fabric in my boy’s bathroom.

I had a little of it left so I used it in this project by simply wrapping the frame backing with it, and securing it with painters tape!

Then the difficult part…trying to figure out what wording to make with these fun alphabet tiles from The Ribbon Retreat!

After about an hour of working on the wording, I came up with this:

I then added a bead of hot glue to each letter and glued it directly on to the fabric, using a level to make sure everything was even.

It was that easy to make this Scrabble Tile Art! Once I put the frame back together, I was suddenly so glad that my husband bumped in to it!

I love that this Scrabble Tile Art is something personal and pretty that my family can enjoy year after year {including our pets; Smokey and Abby}!

Have you made your own artwork? Would you use alphabet/Scrabble tiles to decorate?
