Some of my favorite projects are those that multitask! The ones that you can leave up for multiple seasons and for many special reasons! I LOVE projects such as these and today Danielle from Blissful and Domestic is sharing a super easy but very adorable and trendy No Sew Table Runner that you could keep up all year round or for this chilly Fall and upcoming Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays. Either way your table will look stunning with this gorgeous Metallic Ribbon and Burlap combo upon it! Enjoy!
Hello lovelies! It feels like forever and a day since I have sat down at my kitchen table and got my craft on. Forever people! I was so excited when Hubby volunteered to take the boy to the store to spend some birthday money he received last week. That meant that only the little Miss and I were home. While my little red head was entertained with Arthur and a bit of construction paper crafts, I got out some of my craft supplies to make a table runner that has been rolling around in this brain of mine. I am always looking for simple Fall craft decor projects that will be able to stay out for October and November. I love getting the most out of my decor. This table runner is perfect since it will still look just as fabulous come turkey time. 🙂
This project only requires three items (sweet right?) Burlap, Aleene’s Tacky Glue (which completely rocks!), and this fabulous Metallic Chevron Ribbon. I ordered the black and gold chevron ribbon. Absolutely adorbs! It comes in a 5 yard spool. There are so many projects I can make with this thing! I can’t wait for more metallic chevron to be crafted! The glue and burlap I already had in my stash. I have had this burlap fabric for quite a while. I think I ordered it about three months ago with big plans for it. Months later and my original project was never made, so a table runner it was to become. Anyone else buy fabric, with big plans, and then end up making something totally different? Help a sister out! I can’t be the only one. 🙂
This tutorial is super simple and easy to make. It is quick to make too, which means it is a perfect nap time craft for all those Mamas out there!
To start off, you need to iron your burlap to get out any folds. Burlap stretches and wiggles very easily, so the flatter you can make it the better. I ironed mine on a low setting. Next you want to fold your burlap in half lengthwise. Trim the edges so your rectangle is 24×48 inches. Don’t worry if your lines are not super straight. My lines ended up being pretty straight, but I wasn’t too worried if they were off a bit. If you’re a perfectionist, feel free to use a ruler as a guide for super straight lines.
Next glue your edges together. This glue goes on white, but dries clear. Aleene’s tacky glue has some great hold. It is pretty neat how quick it dries!
Next, add your ribbon. I measured out my ribbon so it was 24 inches. You will need four pieces of ribbon, 24 inches in length. I then burned the edges with a lighter. This prevents the ribbon from fraying.
While gluing, I used an old file folder to catch any glue that squished through the burlap. I would definitely suggest doing this…unless you want to clean a yucky, sticky table after. Your call. 🙂
Glue two pieces of ribbon on each side of your burlap runner.
Let dry for a few hours and decorate with your favorite fall decor. I am using my Witch’s boot I made last year. I love that come turkey season it can double as a pilgrim’s boot. See, I told you I love it when my holiday decor can stretch!
Thanks so much Lovelies!
