I am so excited to introduce today’s project, not only because I LOVE this fun Blogger Duo, but because today is the very first day of a brand new addition to The Ribbon Retreat Blog. This new happening includes all of us, blogger, reader, family, and friends. It is going to be a blast, but I need your help! Once a quarter, I am going to send a few of my blogger buddies a sweet little package FULL of TRR goodness and all sorts of ribbon, flowers, notions and more. Theses awesome pals of mine then get to create a fabulous project out of what supplies they received. One by one, I will post these incredible projects in the competition month. This month we have three remarkable bloggers, whose projects will be featured today and for the following two Mondays right here at TRR blog. Then, this is where you come in, on Monday, February 2nd YOU get to vote for your favorite project in January’s Blogger Competition. The winner will receive a sweet little prize from TRR. Isn’t that fun?!? I can’t wait for you to see these projects. They are incredible and I can’t wait to see who you all pick as your favorite project and 1st Blogger Competition WINNER!
Today’s project in our very first Blogger Competition is by Melanie and Steffany from Find it, Make it, Love it. This duo is dynamic and their project is pretty dang cute! This month’s theme is “All Things Red and Pink”! Help me welcome these talented ladies to TRR and to our first blogger competition! Good Luck ladies! Enjoy everyone and don’t forget to come back next Monday to see our second blogger competition project!
Hi friends! It’s Melanie and Steffany from Find it, Make it, Love it. We are so excited to be part of this little competition! We are pretty excited about the project we came up with and sure hope you LOVE it too! Can you believe it’s already time to think about Valentine’s Day?! We love to add personal touches to our Valentine’s Day celebration, so we decided to make a simple Valentine Photo Backdrop. We can’t wait to share it with you AND share some great ways to use the photos!

Here’s what you need to make one for yourself:
- Ribbon in different sizes and patterns
- Flowers
- Tri-fold presentation board, large poster, or even just a wall
- Tape
- Props (optional)

First, lay the ribbon on a flat surface and cut, alternating the lengths. This is all a matter of what YOU think looks good. π

Cut the wider ribbons into a ‘V’ at the ends, so they look nice and finished.

Use a lighter to seal the edges of the ribbon.

Then tape the ribbon onto whatever surface you’re using as the backdrop itself. We used a tri-fold presentation board and it worked really well. We added a few flowers to the ends of some of the ribbon.

Then it’s ready to go! Grab a little cutie, and some props if you’d like, and snap away! This is Steffany’s little guy, Breken – such a cutie!

Once we got the perfect shot, we added a digital heart with the message “Happy Valentine’s Day.”

Adorable! Okay, so we’ve got the cute picture- now what? We came up with a few really fun ways to use the picture too!

First up, we printed the picture out in wallet size to use as Breken’s Valentine cards this year. We’ll add a little treat and he’ll pass them out at the school party and to all his friends instead of store bought Valentine’s. Personalized, unique and inexpensive! It was about $2 to print out enough for his whole class.

Next, print the pictures to 4×6 and send some snail mail! Can you imagine how thrilled Grandma will be to pull this out of the mailbox for Valentines Day?! We love the idea of celebrating ALL the people we love.

Last….. frame it! Valentine decor at it’s finest. Nothing beats personalized decorations.

What do you think? Are we in it to win it?! We have no doubt it’s some tough competition with the other super creative ladies also participating. But of course, we want you to VOTE FOR US! π
We’d also love for you to pop over to Find it, Make it, Love it for lots more simple and fun inspiration.
Thanks so much to The Ribbon Retreat for having us!

Love the idea of using the tri-fold board for a backdrop. 38 years ago we were using a white sheet over a chair, but with new granddaughter the idea of adding holiday backdrops is fun. My daughter is using a reupholstered, antique slipper rocker from her great-aunt for the monthly pictures, but I love holiday decorations so know we will be trying this too.
Hi Linda! Thank you so much! I am so glad you like this great project and love using holiday decorations for pictures too! I also love the reupholstered rocker prop too. I am a sucker for vintage furniture and am sure it will look stunning as a prop. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful day!
