Sweet and thoughtful gifts are my favorite to receive and to give. I love receiving those cute little crafts made by my kiddos at school that they are always so excited to give to me. I also love giving homemade gifts to my family and friends that is always made from the heart, and today Cherie is sharing a super cute craft that is totally from the heart and would make the funnest Valentine’s Day gift ever for their sweet Valentine, teacher, family member or friend. Enjoy!
When I was in grade school I went to Disneyland. One thing that I vividly remember is bringing home a giant pencil. It was big and colorful and it had a tassel by the eraser. I loved writing with that thing! For Valentines this year I thought a super fun gift to give would be decorated pens! A gift for all ages!
This is not a hard craft to figure out, but I will give you some fun ideas if this is something you would like to do too!
- Supply List
- 3/8″ Ribbon (To wrap the pens)
- Ribbon of any size (For the bow at the top)
- Resins (If you want your pen over the top)
- Pre-made Flower
- Marabou
- Hot Glue Gun
Start by wrapping a pen with ribbon. Glue as you go.
Here is the whole thing wrapped.
Make a bow of your choice or use a pre-made bow or flower from The Ribbon Retreat and glue it to the top of the pen.
For this pen I added a resin and some marabou.
For this pen I glued two ribbon loops around the top of the pen and added a Pom Posy to the center.
This one is fun with a bow some marabou and a flower.
This one is my daughter’s favorite. She just loves the heart resin.
This one is just a simple bow, but the best ribbon for Valentine’s EVER!
This pen is just 2 Pom Posy’s glued back to back. It’s cute, simple and could be done in different colors.
These ribbon pens were really a joy to make. Working with all the pink and red ribbon was really getting me excited for the big day! I know my boys are really looking forward to giving their teachers a pen. I hope you can think of someone special to give one to!
Thank you so much Cherie! What a fun little craft perfect for this time of year! Like Cherie, I too was in love with big pencils, pens, crayons, markers and lots and lots of paper that I could doodle on all day. I would have loved nothing more than to receive a gorgeous ribbon pen just like one of these as a gift from a classmate or friend. Those ribbons, bows and flowers would have made my day, and I think they will make your little sweetheart’s too! These adorable pencils would be great for any time of year and any occasion. Just change the ribbon, flowers and bows and you have a fun gift for any special event that comes your way!

This is such a cute craft to do with your kids. I love the colors and also remember loving anything frilly and girly when I was little. But let’s face it, not much has changed. Lol! Thank you for sharing at Motivational Monday Link Party! Hope to see you again Sunday night.
